We are a new Rotary club in the New Orleans Uptown Riverbend area, and the only local Rotary club that meets in the evening. Our purpose is to provide service beyond self for the local and international community on a variety of humanitarian projects in the spirit of Rotary International. We welcome all civic-minded guests! We are always glad to see Rotarians from other countries, cities and clubs as well as other civic-minded people! Our guest fee is $10 including your dinner. Please RSVP to zhanna@lamannaengineering.com if you are interested in attending our meetings or joining our service or fundraising activities.

Our current and past projects include:

1. Built a BBQ pit and did some gardening at the New Orleans Mission, the largest private service provider for the homeless.

2. We painted the reading room at the New Orleans mission, in preparation for volunteers from Missouri districts to come down and do the finish painting and bookshelf assembly.

3. Helping to support the Rotary Rose Parade Float. This project helps to increase the visibility of Rotary, and of course, we all love a parade.

4. Helping maintain the landmark cemeteries in the city. We will soon be adopting a cemetery, through Save Our Cemeteries

5. Sent a wheelchair and medical supplies to Haiti through the Wheelchair Foundation.

6. Handing out dictionaries to 3rd - 8th grade students. We started with a small project to a local Catholic School, and wrote a grant to cover all of the 3rd graders in the Orleans Parish School Board controlled public schools. We get our dictionaries through the Dictionary Project.

7. Picked oranges with the Algiers club for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

8. Donated to the Rotary Action Group for Diabetes to sponsor Diabetes Awareness in Crimea, Ukraine. This was a contribution to assist the Rotary Club of Northside Tallahassee's Matching Grant.

9. Donated to the International Children's Surgical Foundation, which supports cleft palate repair in developing countries. We did this to support Sgt. Winston Fiore's Smile Trek bike ride across the country.

We were chartered May, 2010 and by becoming a member, you can help determine the focus of our club. We will discuss supporting local parks, events, schools, and more.
